I don't have any but I have my second tatoo picked. Of course I can't get until I get the first one, which I haven't picked out yet. It seems to me that some people don't think about what they get very carefully, or perhaps it just seems that way because it is such a personal concept. What do you think?

I have no tatoos, I like them on other people though. I used to want one like 10 years ago, I just could never think of the perfect tatoo for me. I think some people really think about what they want and other folks just get whatever on a whim or maybe because they were wasted at the time.

i have 4. i put alot of thought into what they were going to be. alot of times i see tattoos on others that i think are really stupid, but then i must remember that there are undoubtedly some who think that about my tattoos. i think it is just so personal, ya know? one mans rubbish is anothers treasure and all that shite.

What I don't get is how people could get something like winnie the pooh or some other cartoon character permanently etched onto their body. I know far too many people who've run down and gotten anything, just picked something from the flash book, without even thinking about it. They just "wanted a tat".
That irritates me.
I have two pieces. Wings on my shoulderblades, and a pumpkin with vines across my lower back. Both were designed for me. Both are memorials. -

I only have one, I didn't get it until 2 years ago, and it had to meet certain critieria inorder for me to get it:
1) it had to be original/unique
2) I wanted it to be discreet
3) it had to have great personal meaning to me
I love my tattoo, and most people who see it give me compliments on it. I toy with the notion of getting more, but they at least have to meet requirements 1 and 3 for me to consider it. And I'm SOOOO glad I came up with my list of criteria before I came up with the first few ideas I had for tattoos when I was 18... I won't even go there. lol

Just to keep this thread going...
I enjoy tatoos, however I don't think that I could ever get one. I am just too fickle. I could not live with anything permanent on my body that I intentionaly put there. It seems a shame sometimes because I would love to be able to display art on my flesh, but it's my personality type that stops me. I would like it for a day and then find everything wrong with it. I wish I could do it, but I guess I will just have to face the fact that I am not a tatoo person, for myself, and I will forever be a tatoo admirer from a distance. A kind of skin art hanger-on-er, if you will.
Karl, if you are reading this, I just can't imagine you with a tatoo! What and where would you get it? Why? Would it be something personal? Say hi to the people at home for me.
